RICH-Ed Online Training Successfully Held
From April to May 2020, a series of online trainings for teachers who participated in the testing phase of RICH-Ed were successfully held. With the focus on providing guidance and help for teachers who were going to test the developed teaching modules , the project teams from HIT, HDU, UNNC, JLU, and ZWU organized the online meeting for each module respectively.
The online training included two parts. First, the project members recorded mini-coaching lectures on the developed teaching materials. All groups tried their best to do all preparations for the explanation of teaching process, including the theoretical foundation and the methodological knowledge. Secondly, a demand-driven Q&A webinar was carried out for different groups of teachers in Chinese universities. Problems teachers may encounter in using the teaching materials were fully discussed. Some teachers who had used this material before also shared their experiences in classroom teaching.
Every teacher’s questions were answered effectively during the webinar. After the webinar, all the participants commented favorably on the teaching materials RICH-Ed developed. They pointed out that this material is practical, interesting, and suitable for students’ needs, which is of great benefit in improving Chinese students’ intercultural communicative competence. What is more, they also felt very inspired by the teaching model designed.
Online training is one of the development tasks of work package 3 of RICH-Ed, aiming at supporting Chinese universities teachers to test the teaching materials RICH-Ed developed. It greatly helped the testing phase and further improvement of the learning materials in the next stage of the project.
