HIT Hosted the Fifth Consortium Meeting of the Erasmus+ RICH-Ed Project


    The fifth training session and consortium meeting of RICH-Ed (Resources for Interculturality in Chinese Higher Education) was staged at HIT School of International Studies from August 29th to 31st . RICH-Ed is a transnational cooperation research project funded by Erasmus+, European Commission, which involves eight partners from four countries: KU Leuven, University of Durham (UK), Alma Mater Studiorum - Universita di Bologna (IT), University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Zhejiang Wanli University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Jilin University and Hangzhou Dianzi University. More than 10 participants from the eight member universities in this partnership attended the conference.


    On the 29th , the participating scholars discussed the workpackages undertaken by four member universities—WP2, WP6, WP7 and WP8, and exchanged information and opionions of the progress achieved in their institutions. On the 30th, the participants reviewed and summarized the work and contributions accomplished within wp3 and WP4 to the end of sharing experiences and insights relevant to objectives yet to be achieved.


    On the morning of the 31st, WP5 (Training the administrative and management staff), which is assigned to the HIT team, was officially launched. Prof.FAN Feng, assistant president of HIT, attended the launching ceremony and delivered a speech, expressing his support for the project and a vision of the success of the project. Also present at the launching ceremony were officials from the Office of International Cooperation and the Office for Development in Humanitieis, Arts and Social Sciences of HIT. After the launching ceremony, the participants discussed and confirmed a detailed plan to be executed within the project, determined the themes and methodologies in workpackages, and developed training and learning activities. The three-day consortium meeting and training session then came to an end with their objectives fulfilled and productive advice and guidance made.


    Building on the IEREST project, RICH-Ed addresses the need for intercultural learning in Chinese higher education in view of an enhanced intercultural awareness in interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. RICH-Ed aims at supporting the Chinese partner HEIs in creating a learning environment that empowers its students and staff for global engagement. According to the project plan, HIT School of International Studies, as a Chinese partner, cooperates with other projects partner to participate in each work plan of the project (Workpackages 1-8), and is responsible for organizing and coordinating the research tasks of the work plan 5 (WP5). WP5—Training of Administrative and Management Staff—include specific tasks such as organizing school project participants to jointly study and develop theoretical frameworks and methods for training, development and application of training resources, internal training and external training for project participants.
